Congratulations to our Garma 2025 member competition: Dr Julia-Rose Satre – winner in the AIDA Indigenous Medical Doctor (Fellow or non-Fellow) member category. Many congratulations also to Cooper Hill who won in the Indigenous Medical Student member category.

Win an incredible ticket package to Garma Festival 2025, in our exclusive Australian Indigenous Doctors’ Association (AIDA) members competition! Garma Festival will be taking place from Friday 1 August to Monday 4 August in the NT.

Valued at up to $7,000 each, there are two exclusive prize packages up for grabs: one for an AIDA Indigenous Medical Student member and one for an AIDA Indigenous Medical Doctor (Fellow or non-Fellow) member.

Winners will experience everything Garma has to offer, including traditional miny’tji (art), manikay (song), bunggul (dance), and storytelling, in remote northeast Arnhem Land. The festival provides a contemporary space for the expression and sharing of Yolngu knowledge, tradition, and culture — a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Each prize package includes festival admission, return flights from your nearest major airport, accommodation from Thursday 31 July to Tuesday 5 August, all meals, return transfers from Gove Airport to the festival site, and access to all Garma activities and programs.

This is an opportunity not just to witness Australia’s largest Indigenous cultural gathering, but to immerse yourself in it. Please read the Terms and Conditions for full details and exclusions.

We’re looking for two current AIDA members to take part in this unforgettable journey, fully embrace the Garma experience, and capture their adventure through photos, videos, and written reflections to share with the wider AIDA community via our website and social media channels. We would love to experience Garma through your eyes.

About Garma Festival

Get a glimpse of Garma Festival in 2024

Garma Festival is Australia’s largest Indigenous gathering, a 4-day celebration of Yolngu life and culture held in remote northeast Arnhem Land from 2 to 5 August.

Hosted by the Yothu Yindi Foundation, Garma is a four-day celebration that brings together Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians to share in Yolngu culture through dance, song, art, and storytelling. The event is also an important meeting point for the clans and families of the region.

The Festival’s overriding cultural purpose is to provide a contemporary environment for the expression and presentation of traditional Yolngu knowledge systems and customs, and to share these practices in an authentic Yolngu setting.
